Our caramelised figs are a true jewel of traditional Romagna cuisine, crafted through a long, artisanal process. Following an authentic Romagna recipe and traditional methods, whole figs are gently caramelised, stirred slowly by hand with large wooden spoons for over three hours, to preserve their natural integrity and delicate flavour.

These typical Romagna products were honoured with the “Innovative Product” award at TuttoFood 2011, the prestigious biennial global food fair held in Milan.

Ingredients: Figs 60%, lemon juice and raw cane sugar.

Sweet taste, vegan and gluten-free

Artisanal Luvirie production, no pectin, no added colourings, no preservatives.

Description

Despite the naturally high sugar content of the figs, the final taste is wonderfully subtle and refined, making them perfect to accompany soft cheeses such as the exquisite Foie Gras or gelato creams. In Romagna, it is customary to enjoy them alongside regional cheeses like Squaquerone and Raviggiolo.

For the best experience, as is the local tradition, warm the figs gently in a pan before serving to enhance their flavour and texture. They also make an exceptional ingredient for cakes and tarts, or as a delicious complement to boiled meats.
